JEAN WEISS IS THE WINNER! PLEASE EMAIL ME AT SAVINGINSUMNER@YAHOO.COM

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! Being a Mom is a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year job. We don’t get sick leave, vacation pay and clock out at 5 and it is the hardest and the most rewarding job I have ever had. My boys amaze me at times and make me crazy at others but I wouldn’t trade a day of it. My own Mother was a amazing person who never failed to offer her insight and wisdom whenever she felt it was needed. The advice my Mother gave me through out her life has never failed me be it big or small. In honor of my Mother who passed away 12 years ago I am going to giveaway a $20 Fandango Card to one lucky winner when you share a thought or pass along some advice you learned from your Mother. Or if you just want to Honor your Mother with a nice story (like how she drove you 2 hours out of town to find the perfect Prom Dress). Enter by leaving a comment on this post and I will pick a winner via Random.org Monday morning. Be sure to come back and find out if you are the winner on Monday.

  2. my mother taught me to be strong. a woman is the strong one in the family. she passed when i was 20 so i was glad for this lesson. i had to be strong for myself my 2 kids i had when she passed and took care of my dad for years until he passed. they are the two most important people in my life and im so glad for everything they did for me and taught me.

My mother always insisted that poor planning on someone else’s part did not constituted an emergency on hers…it has influenced how I plan things so that I don’t inconvenience anyone else (she might have said it, but she has always been so accommodating even when she felt put upon).

My Mom raised me as a single mother and always put my needs and wants before her own! She taught me I could be whatever I wanted to be. She is my inspiration!

The thing that sticks out most from childhood is my mom always saying “sit up or stand up straight”. Being young I always resented the command, but as I entered adulthood I experienced first hand why good posture is essential to a developing frame (improves appearance and builds stronger back and shoulder muscles). I have sees too many adults with painful hunched backs and rounded shoulders.

Now that I have a daughter of my own I find myself saying that exact same thing to her over and over. I regret giving my mom so much attitude over it! Hopefully I will instill the need for better posture in my child BEFORE slouching becomes a permanent habit.

My mom is my best friend and the person I try most to be like. She is loving and caring and always doing things for others. Some of the best times we had just the two of us were on Tuesdays during my college years I would drive home to go with her to deliver meals to the shut-ins in the small town I grew up in. While we were helping to brighten the days of those we delivered to and providing them nutrients those times in the car provided us with plenty of quality time to talk, enjoy each others company, and solve the problems of the world. Now I live three hours away from my mom and don’t get to see her as often as I would like but we burn up the phone lines. I truly am blessed with the best mom and friend a girl could ask for.

My mother was a baker when I was growing up, so I remember waking up on Saturday mornings to the sound of my mom’s Kitchenaid Mixer. She made such delicious cookies and cakes. Yum! Makes me miss my mom’s food. Nothing like home.
