When I was growing up, my Mom would do a version of this. She had a Basket she would keep in her closet and we would have to do a chore in order to earn the item back. Being the oldest of 4. It didn’t take us kids very long to learn to pick up after ourselves.

You can easily do this for your own family. Just write out age appropriate chores for your kiddo’s to chose from. For example: the younger kids are old enough to pick up their toys and put them into a toybox. The older ones can put away laundry and your teenagers…..well, that’s whole other conversation, lol.
